How do we install your tiled roof conservatories?
Here’s a step-by-step of our installation process.
When installing our clients’ tiled roof conservatories, we utilise our patent granted pod system – Warmer Roof. This advanced lightweight tiled roofing system was designed to replace a conservatory roof. It can also create a beautifully vaulted ceiling in a single-storey extension. It’s then externally finished with lightweight tiles that are available in a wide range of colours to match your home. If you are replacing your conservatory roof, the entire roof must be removed ready for your new tiled roof. Here’s our step-by-step of how we approach the process of installing tiled roof conservatories.
Once the old roof is removed, a specially produced and engineered continuous Glulam ring beam must be installed. This roof pod is a boarded one-piece timber framework section, either shaped or rectangular. It covers bi-folding doors without the need for costly structural support. Spanning up to four metres, it provides incredible structural strength, durability and performance. It is also wide enough to accommodate any shaped frames on the existing conservatory below.
Next, the fully insulated 100% pre-manufactured “Warmer Roof” forms a structural link between the eaves and ridge. This provides strength and insulation – just where you need it. Lightweight panels are dropped into place, insulating the roof to a building regulation compliant U-value as low as 0.14.
These pods are factory pre-assembled using roofing grade timber. They are specifically designed to replace the existing glass or polycarbonate roofed conservatories. All pod joints are glued and screwed together before full-length roof windows are fixed into position. This ensures your new room is flooded with natural light where you need it, without the cost of expensive roof lights.
Once all the Warmer Roof panels are in place, the expandable panels grow to fill gaps and prevent cold spots. Lightweight panels are clipped together to form a super-strong eye beam structure throughout.
Next, the timber board is lowered into place, boarded and fixed. Followed by an 18mm OBS3 breathable waterproof roofing sheet membrane. Despite the expandable panels below, this is laid on top to give your roof the ultimate protection against the elements.
Warmer Roof’s unique starter strip gives the tiles a real slate look. They also provide ventilation holes to allow airflow and avoid any condensation. All structural and building regulations are met thanks to careful design and engineering. Certification ensures it complies with and exceeds the current Building Regulation requirements – for both structural and thermal performance.
Contemporary slim-line aluminium ridge and hip capping are then added to finish your roof in style. A decorative 150mm fascia board, and an ‘ogee’ decorative gutter system, can also be chosen to add shape and style to the roofline.
Once installed, plaster boarding and painting is quick and easy to do to make it habitable. The insulated Warmer Roof creates a useful space to insert spotlights or speakers around the ceiling perimeter too. Once completed, the tiled roof creates a beautifully warm and airy space that will become one of the most widely used rooms in your home. What are tiled roof conservatories?
An extension of your home rather than a later addition.
Instead of traditional glazed or polycarbonate roofs, tiled roof conservatories utilise lightweight tiles. These advanced materials offer additional strength, rigidity and durability, and are surprisingly affordable. Aesthetically speaking, they are attractive inside and out and feature superior insulation properties. Better still, a solid roof helps create a seamless transition from your home to your conservatory. It also changes the classification of your conservatory from a temporary structure to a permanent one.
This makes it feel like an extension of your home rather than a later addition.
So, if you want a usable space for the family to enjoy all year round, opt for tiled roofs. This versatile innovation is suitable for extensions, conservatories and replacements. They can even be installed on a porch – no room is too small! At Tiled Conservatories, we’re driven by a culture of customer satisfaction. Our customers take full priority – from the initial discussion through to the final installation. By combining a range of features, we offer multiple options to design the bespoke conservatory of your choice.
